INTRODUCING VIKKA

Vikka is a beautiful girl, 18 months old, on the smaller side of medium (about 12 – 13kgs). She is fully housetrained and sleeps well at night (currently about 10pm – 6am). Her carer describes her as “goofy, clever, eager to learn, busy and into everything”. Vikka will thrive in a high energy home, with a good sized garden, with lots to do. She loves enrichment games and toys, and would probably adore doing agility, or canicross training. Young children worry her, so she would be best in a home with dog savvy children aged 12+.

Vikka gets on fine with other dogs, though she often gets told off by them. She has not met cats, but she doesn’t seem to have much of a prey drive. She plays rough, and tends to body slam, so she should only be rehomed with dogs who can handle this. She needs help to develop her understanding of boundaries, and signals from dogs she meets. She loves playtime, and off lead time, and really enjoys being able to play in the garden, and do a bit of digging!

She travels well in the car. She has excellent recall to a whistle, and walks really well on the lead. She already knows some basic commands. She tends to mouth/chew, so she needs more support to get over these behaviours. Buses and lorries tend to worry her, when out and about.

Vikka has a good appetite and is very responsive to training treats, and loves her Kong. She has no food aggression. She can be left, with other dogs, for upto 4 hours, as long as she has plenty to do. She loves belly rubs. She hates being brushed or washed, and there is an area on her back (where there is a scar) which she won’t allow anyone to touch.

The Responsible Dog Rescue provides incredible support to all fosters and new adopters. We are a community, and we help each other. We have behaviour experts, and lots of experienced fosterers, on hand to help you.

We always advise slow and supervised introductions to other pets, and of course, always have safe introductions to children. For adopting dogs, all children in the household must be at least 5 years old, though we would prefer older children for Vikka. Direct access to a private, secure garden is required.
