INTRODUCING ELLIE

19 month old (approx.) Female 💥💥Available for ADOPTION or FOSTER TO ADOPT💥💥Currently in Southport, PR9.

Ellie is a fabulous medium/large sized girl (27kgs). She is at our assessment kennels in Southport, PR9 and she is now ready to find a home of her own. Ideally, she would be rehomed with another confident dog, but we would consider a home where she is the only dog. Adult only, or dog savvy children aged 13+ as she is nervous of young children and sudden movements.

She is described as a “beautiful, goofy girl, who loves playing with her doggy friends and her trusted humans”. She is like a puppy – everything is very exciting and fun. She loves to chase and fetch. She seeks out attention from the people she trusts. She is fine with cats, but because she is quite inquisitive about them, she should only be rehomed with dog savvy cats.

Ellie is not yet 100% housetrained – that is difficult to achieve in a kennel environment but she should pick it up really quickly in a home of her own. She is nervous of new people and new places, but she can be won over with food, and by taking things at a slow pace.

Ellie needs a strong and firm handler, as she is a strong lady herself. She walks quite well on the lead and harness, though she can sometimes be a bit skittish, particularly if she doesn’t yet trust her handler. She walks better when she is with another confident dog. She needs reassurance on walks. She travels very well in a car. She has learned her basic commands and is progressing well with her training.

She loves her food and treats, though she is allergic to poultry. She has not food aggression.

The Responsible Dog Rescue provides incredible support to all fosters and new adopters. We are a community, and we help each other. We have behaviour experts, and lots of experienced fosterers, on hand to help you.

We always advise slow and supervised introductions to other pets, and of course, always have safe introductions to children. For adopting dogs, all children in the household must be at least 5 years old, but we would prefer older, dog savvy children for Ellie. Direct access to a private, secure garden is required.
