INTRODUCING CONNIE
Connie is two and a half years old, medium sized (about 21kgs) 💥💥Available for FOSTER to ADOPT, or ADOPTION💥💥Currently in Southport, PR9.
Connie is a gorgeous girl who has had some bad luck – she had found her permanent adoption home (along with her sister, Carry), and was getting only brilliantly, but then the personal circumstances of their adopter changed and she could no longer look after them. So Connie has been at our assessment kennels in Southport, and she is now ready to be adopted.
Connie has a real zest for life and absolutely adores people. She is OK with dogs, but definitely prioritises people. She can live with other dogs, given slow and careful introductions (she is currently sharing her kennel with a male of similar size, and they get on fine), though she needs more socialisation with other dogs. When she meets new dogs, she can be over excited. Her style of play is quite rough and vocal. She has signs of prey drive, so should not be rehomed with cats. She is good with children. She is an energetic, enthusiastic dog who needs an active life, and loads of cuddles. She is very eager to please humans.
She is a very clever dog, and she knows her basic commands. She is food motivated and loves treats. She has some food guarding tendencies (with other dogs, not with humans). Although she is not thrilled with her harness, once it is on, she is very happy to go on walks, though she is less keen to go out in the rain.
Connie has the occasional accident overnight (purely due to the kennel environment – she was fully housetrained when in her previous adoption home) and she sleeps fine through the night. She has no problems with car travel.
If you would like to foster to adopt, or adopt Connie, and understand the commitment you are making when you take on a rescue dog, please complete the form using the link below, or ask one of our volunteers and they will be happy to help.😇😇
The Responsible Dog Rescue provides incredible support to all fosters and new adopters. We are a community, and we help each other. We have behaviour experts, and lots of experienced fosterers, on hand to help you.
We always advise slow and supervised introductions to other pets, and of course, always have safe introductions to children. For adopting dogs, all children in the household must be at least 5 years old. Direct access to a private, secure garden is preferred, though we will consider homes without a garden for Connie.
